JOINTS AND DIGESTION

Turmeric, a plant recommended for joint inflammation in horses:

The curcumin that gives turmeric its yellow color has been the subject of numerous studies. This substance has recognized antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The root of Curcuma longa is traditionally used to soothe sensitive joints in horses, especially in cases of osteoarthritis.

This spice is also beneficial for supporting the horse's digestive system, especially in cases of stomach pain, digestive discomfort or liver problems.

What to combine turmeric with?

To promote better assimilation of curcumin, which is naturally poorly absorbed by the intestine, it is possible to combine its administration with black pepper (the piperine contained in black pepper increases intestinal permeability), but be careful with sensitive intestines.

Since curcumin is fat-soluble, mixing Curcuma longa powder with a little oil (e.g. linseed oil) will also aid its assimilation.

In case of significant joint sensitivity, this spice can be associated with Arthromix, a unique blend of dehydrated plants with soothing, mineralizing and draining properties. This blend, not containing devil's claw, can be administered without risk to horses with sensitive stomachs.
